BOOK REPORT
Name : Mahfut Khanafi

A.  TITLE : GULLIVER’S TRAVEL
B.  THEME : the Adventure of Gulliver in the strange Islands
C.  PLOT SUMMARY:
 Lemuel Gulliver was born the third of five sons. He was from poor family. But he could study in london, Especially in medician departement. After he was finished his studies,he married with Mary Burton and began to practice medicine  in a ship as doctor. But someday the ship hitten by a violent storm. He  swam till a shore.The lilliputans crowded around him till when he woke up. the emperor was generous to give him food, drink, cloth, and settle because he wanted gulliver to defeat their neighbor, the Blefuscidians for such a trivial reason. Gulliver refuse their request.after that he moved to Blefucue.
The Emperor of Blefucue was very generous to help him made a boat for going home. One day after he left, he saw a ship belong to English people. Gulliver brought three couples of sheet in his pocket. In England, he got much money from selling the sheet he had brought from Lilliput island. After that, he went on voyage again to a giant island. He was arrested by the worker of a farm and brought to the farmer. The farmer settled Gulliver on his house and gave him food. The farmer’s daughter, Glumdalclitch took care of Gulliver. She also tough Gulliver her language and made him a house box. The farmer earned much money by putting Gulliver on a display. The farmer made him hardwork and carried him away in a tour up to Lorbrulgrud where the king and the queen lived. The queen interested to see Gulliver and finally purchased him. The king and the queen always treated him with great kindness. But the danger of this giant environment came over him so often, especially the mischief caused by the queen’s dwarf. He want to came back to his home.So when the king and the queen brought him to a coast. An eagle took his house box while he took a nap on the seashore and fallen it to the sea. Fortunately, an english ship passed by and sailed him home.
 he was on a ship called Hopewell as the ship’s doctor. A goup of pirates hacked them when they went to sell their cargo. Gulliver made a mistake that made the pirate’s captain decided to set off him in a canoe alone. He saw a floating island namely Laputa. All parts of the island reflected their concern in mathematics and music. When he wanted to leave the island, the king asked Lord Munodi to guide him around Balnibarbi island. Gulliver returned to England since he found nothing interesting there but a group of foolishman. On the way, he stopped in the island of sorcerers or magicians Glubbdubdrib. He met many ghosts as guard and servant in the palace. Their attitude in law was inversely different from any normal countries. Then, Gulliver continued his adventure to Luggnagg island where the people could ask for death from the king, and some them were immortal. On the day of deparature, the king gave him 44 large pieces of gold and a red diamond and asked him to deliver a letter to the Emperor of Japan. From Japan, Gulliver arrived home savely with 400 pounds from selling the diamond. Five months later, he bacame the captain of a ship called Adventure. But he did it poorly, so the crews left him alone in a huoyhnhnms(horse) island. the horses acted like a human, even they talked each other. The island was peaceful, without wars, money, crimes, and lier. Gulliver liked to stay there for five years until he was driven by the huoyhnhnms. Gulliver wanted to live alone in an island. Unfortunately, the Captain forced him turn to England when they saw him.

o   Lemuel Gulliver : interested to advanture as a doctor.
o   The Emperor of Lilliput : an ambisious man.
o   The Queen of Brobdingnag : very generous.
o   The queen’s dwarf : give Gulliver the dangerous place .
o   The giant farmer : take care to Gulliver

o   Gulliver’s family (the wife, the children).
o   Lilliputians : mini living creatures whom Gulliver meets in his first voyage.
o   A nobleman of Lilliput.
o   Blefuscudians : another mini living creatures whom Gulliver meets in his first voyage.

o   Lord Munodi : a laputan who guides Gulliver on Balnibarbi island.
